An award-winning investigative journalist with years of experience in the Canadian media, I am an expert in public policy that supports all.
Formerly a reporter and radio producer with CBC News Vancouver, my reporting served as a catalyst for municipal and BC-wide changes. As a direct result of my reporting, better policies for homeowners and tenants were introduced, along with stricter measures around international education to keep the community safe. Being CBC’s designated reporter to cover all things Surrey, I have single-handedly broke multiple impactful stories, including the police transition, and changing policies around the office of the ethics commissioner. My professional and personal experiences, from being a media personality to having worked in municipal and provincial settings, provide me with a deep understanding of municipal politics, and unique insights into policymaking.
My keen interest in the local arts and culture has earned me multiple national news awards, like the Best Canadian Local News Award and the RTDNA. I also have vast experience engaging with diverse communities as I worked as an engagement leader on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project, one of the largest public infrastructure projects in Canada.
Being a well-known figure in the Canadian art scene, I also have deep ties to Burnaby. As a member of the Burnaby Village Museum’s Community Advisory Committee, I provide valuable advice and direction on projects that support the Museum’s goals of highlighting cultural diversity across Burnaby.
My vision for Burnaby includes robust investments in arts and culture programs, political accountability, an equitable and reliable transit system that connects us better, better funding into active transportation, and turning Burnaby into the most livable city in Canada. I speak many languages, including English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.
I am ready to roll up my sleeves and turn Burnaby into a haven for its people.
