I've been a member of the Burnaby community for over 20 years. I'm a community leader with with decades of experience in education, social impact, arts and culture, and environmental advocacy. Throughout my career in the non-profit sector, I've been dedicated to creating caring, inclusive communities that nurture well-being and belonging by mobilizing collective power toward solutions-building and social change.
As a former public school teacher, I parlayed my passion for educating young people into founding and operating Artspace in Burnaby Heights, providing a much-needed cultural hub for north Burnaby families. As a strong proponent for accessible and inclusive arts programming, I'm guided by my belief that arts and culture foster a deeper sense of human connection and offer a transformative means of self-expression.
My work in environmental advocacy has focused on upholding First Nations self-determination and work in environmental protection and empowering and uplifting diverse youth climate action leaders. Both in my professional endeavours and my community involvement, I've invested in building power with youth and centering their voices and ideas.
I live in Burnaby with my spouse and two children and some of our favourite things about this city are the nature trails in Burnaby Mountain, Eileen Dailly pool, the Burnaby Art Gallery, the McGill Library, and the local shops and restaurants in Burnaby Heights. I want to ensure that Burnaby is a city that is vibrant, affordable, livable and climate resilient by building diverse types of housing, expanding public transit, increasing biking and walking networks, ensuring accessible community programs, supporting small businesses, and investing in climate action. As a city councilor, I’ll work to harness our collective creativity, imagination and innovation to make Burnaby a caring and inclusive community for everyone.
